On Saturday, 17 February 2018 EUCAP assisted with the completion of the Berbera Jetty renovation project.
The project, which was financed by EUCAP, aimed to enhance the safety of the port facility.
The Commander of the Somaliland Coast Guard, Admiral Abdi Hirsi, as well as the Commander of Berbera Sector, and the Fleet unit commander were also present.
Built more than three decades ago, the Somaliland Coast Guards’ Jetty had received little by way of maintenance and with the passage of time, it had become increasingly unsafe and a cause for concern on the part of users.
During the visit, the Somaliland Coast Guard commander expressed his gratitude to EUCAP. He stressed that the quick repair of the Jetty will be of considerable assistance in helping the coast guards’ fleet unit to perform their daily operations safely.
