16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign begins on 25 November on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs until 10th December 2017 on Human Rights Day.
The international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991 and is a time for everyone to take action to end violence against women and girls around the world.
On 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women), the European Union and the United Nations have embarked on a Spotlight Initiative, a ray of light in this ongoing fight. On the International Day, EU institutions will be lit up in orange as part of the UNiTE campaign, to symbolize a brighter future without violence.
