EUCAP Somalia supported the planning and organization of a Train-the-Trainers (ToT) course run by UNODC and AMISOM Police at the Police Academy in Mogadishu between 14-26 October.
The opening and closing ceremonies were attended by Somali Officials, including the Somali Police Commissioner and his Deputy.
The 14 Somali officers participating in the course – including two female officers – learned about several subjects, including: Planning, teaching methods and presentation skills. The officers came from several parts of Somalia.
The course aimed at delivering skills to achieve a Basic Police Recruit Curriculum for Police Officers.
The Somali Officers participating in the Train-the-Trainers course will be involved in recruit training, passing their know-how on to fellow officers in the respective areas of operation.
Together with partners from the International community, EUCAP Somalia has been supporting the Somali Police Professional Development Board (PPDB), aimed at developing a Somalia-wide Basic Police Training Curriculum.
The multi-functional room where the trainees learned new skills was refurbished with the support of EUCAP Somalia. The Mission has also provided IT equipment and IT technical support to the Mogadishu Police Academy.
