EUCAP Somalia is supporting the reconstruction of a dormitory building for cadets at the General Kahiye Police Academy in Mogadishu, as part of assistance to police development in Somalia. When finished, it is estimated the refurbished dormitory will hold approximately 200 beds and allow a greater number of cadets, including cadets of a special unit of police called the Darwish, to be trained at the Academy.
This week EUCAP police and project experts visited the reconstruction site to see the first stages of the refurbishment and met with the Deputy Commander of the Academy, Colonel Aweys Macalin Yaroow, to discuss the plans of the project.
