Four Somali Police Force Maritime Police Unit (SPF-MPU) officers participated in a Maritime Leadership Training Course organised and delivered as a result of integrated approach in Somalia among the United Nations, the European Union, the Africa Union and the British Government, working together in support of Somali partners.
The “Joint Maritime Leadership Training” was in fact organised by the AMISOM Ugandan Marines and delivered by the British Peace Support Team Africa with the support of the EU Delegation to Somalia, EUCAP Somalia, EUNAVFOR Atalanta and UNROLSIG.
The Somali officers attended training sessions on Maritime Security, Maritime Domain Awareness, Maritime Law Enforcement, factors & context, New Policing Model, Piracy, Duties of boatgroup commanders, Leadership & Principles, Observation & Reporting.
The course included outdoor practical sessions at sea conducted on AMISOM Ridged Hulled Inflatable Boats (RHIB).
