In spite of the Covid19 pandemic, the need for international police cooperation has not ceased, and neither has EUCAP Somalia’s support to #INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Mogadishu. In early July 2020, EUCAP delivered 100 copies of specialized training material to NCB Mogadishu to facilitate self-study among Somali INTERPOL officers.
The training material contain information used in March 2020 when four Somali Police officers from the Mogadishu NCB received training on the access and use of INTERPOL databases and systems. The training that was delivered at the Regional Bureau of Interpol in Nairobi by INTERPOL officials and Kenyan NCB INTERPOL police officers through the support of EUCAP Somalia concentrated on the system which allows information sharing on terrorism and criminal networks amongst police officers around the world.
This book donation is a component of the capacity building process which comprises among others, plans for a train-the-trainers course for NCB Mogadishu.
In addition to the training manuals, EUCAP also presented 1000 copies of the official INTERPOL guidelines for law enforcement response to #COIVD19 translated into Somali language. These guidelines will help to raise pandemic awareness and allow frontline law enforcement officers execute their duties safely. The booklets shall be distributed to all the police directorates and police stations in Mogadishu. Also these booklets were received by the Head of Interpol NCB Mogadishu, General Mohamed Dore.
